It may surprise you to hear, but almost every professional athlete will rely primarily on online triathlon coaching. It’s simply not pragmatic to expect a coach to be with an athlete for more than a handful of sessions a week at most.

Theres no denying the value of an experienced coach standing poolside, offering instant feedback on your stroke. Isn't online triathlon coaching something Chat GPT could do?

The first question I want you to ask yourself is, could AI do your job? Your answer would likely be that it could handle some of the simpler aspects of the role, but never replace a human entirely. 

The same is true of online triathlon coaching. Yes it could write you a basic plan, but it would not be able to effectively monitor and tweak your training over time. AI won’t be able to adjust if you develop a niggle. It won’t be on the end of the phone when the self doubt creeps in. Machine learning won’t be able to install you with the self belief required to achieve ambitious goals. 

It lacks the experience, gut instinct and empathy of a human coach. Yes it has access to most of the material on triathlon ever created, but that’s also its weakness.

I’ve seen plans written by Chat GPT and while they aren’t awful, the further you get into the plan the more unhinged they become. They also tend to ramp up intensity and volume too fast, and many AI programmes have a high risk of injury associated with them.

All of my coaching packages start with an in-depth consultation. We want to know everything about you:
